CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference released its 2014 preseason coaches’ poll on Tuesday. Miami was picked to finish fourth in the MAC East Division.

For the first time, preseason All-MAC teams were selected, separated by division. Representing the RedHawks on the All-MAC East preseason team was redshirt junior middle hitter Jenny Ingle. She is coming off a season in which she led Miami with 296 digs and 96 blocks (20 solo and 76 assisted).

The defending regular season and tournament champion Ohio Bobcats received 11 first-place votes to top the MAC East Division poll. Ohio was also picked to win the overall regular season and tournament championships. Buffalo was picked to finish second and received the other first-place vote. Bowling Green came in third, just in front of the RedHawks. Kent State and Akron rounded out the poll.

Ball State is the favorite in the MAC West Division, receiving seven first-place votes. Northern Illinois received four first-place votes and finished second in the poll. Western Michigan took the other first-place vote and finished third. The poll was rounded out by Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Toledo.

Miami returns eight letterwinners and brings in seven newcomers from a team that went 12-16 overall and placed fifth in the MAC East Division.
