INDIANAPOLIS— Six RedHawks from the Miami University men’s track and field team earned berths in the NCAA East Preliminary Round, the NCAA announced on Thursday afternoon.

Senior Jahquil Hargrove (400m), junior Skyler Coburn (400m hurdles), senior Rob Stein (shot put), sophomore Peter Stefanski (high jump), senior Sam Spallinger (long jump) and senior Tyler Yee (javelin) all posted qualifying marks.

Hargrove clocked a time of 46.90 at the Mid-American Conference Championships to make his third appearance at the NCAA East Prelims in the 400m. His 400m time ranks 28th in the region. Coburn was the other RedHawk runner to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Coburn turned in a time of 52.15 in the 400m hurdles at the Kentucky Relays, which ranks him 35th in the region.

Stefanski cleared a height of 12.12m/6-11.5 in the high jump at the All-Ohio Championships to earn a spot in the NCAA East Preliminary Round for a second-straight year in the event. His jump ranks 25th in the region. Spallinger jumped a distance of 70.41m/24-3.75 at the RedHawk Invitational to earn his spot in postseason action. He ranks 39th in the region in the long jump.

Stein had a throw of 18.03m/59-2 in the shot put at the Miami Invitational. His qualifying throw ranked him 32nd in the region. This is the fourth time Stein has qualified for the NCAA East Prelims, but his first in the shot put. He competed in the discus the previous three years. In the javelin, Yee had a throw of 64.55m/211-9 at Wake Forest Open to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round for the second-straight year and ranks 43rd in the region in the event.

The NCAA East Preliminary Round will take place May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
