OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University volleyball team has reached the halfway point of its spring schedule. In two weekends, the RedHawks have had remarkable success, currently sporting a 5-1 record.
The first weekend, Miami hosted its own invitational, where it defeated Wright State, Findlay and a group of recent alumnae to begin the spring exhibition season 3-0. Last weekend, the RedHawks traveled to Nashville for a tournament. They dropped their first match against Lipscomb, but came back to earn victories over Tennessee Tech and Alabama.
"The teams we face this spring give our athletes the opportunity to be challenged at many levels,” said head coach Carolyn Condit. “It certainly helps to have everyone healthy now. I see a strong team chemistry and a renewed level of determination to outlast opponents and battle for wins. Our hitter-setter connections are impressive and our passing is making this happen. Every level of our game is improving and the team is working hard to make necessary changes."
Miami has two more tournaments to go during the spring season. The RedHawks travel to Indianapolis this Saturday, where they will take on Indiana State at noon and host IUPUI at 2 p.m. On April 26, Miami takes a trip to Fort Wayne, where it will face host IPFW at 10 a.m. and Xavier at 12:20 p.m.
