OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women’s track and field team wrapped up day one of the Miami Invitational, competing in cold and windy conditions at the George Rider Track.
Three RedHawks finished in the top eight of the hammer throw, starting with sophomore Amelia Strickler who took fourth with a heave of 45.72m/150-00. Freshman Martha Szekely finished strong in the first home meet of her collegiate debut, taking seventh with a mark of 41.02m/134-07. Freshman Olivia Cummings then rounded out the top eight, clearing a distance of 40.70m/133-06.
The second and final day of the Miami Invitational begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with the discus, followed my the shot put, pole vault, and women’s long jump at 11 a.m. Track action starts at 10:55 a.m. with the men’s 5000m (Section II), followed by the women’s 5000m at 11:15 a.m. The meet is scheduled to conclude at 3:20 p.m. with the men’s 4x400m relay.
