LINCOLN, Neb. – In their first of two matches this weekend, the Miami University women’s tennis team started off their trip to Nebraska on a high-note with a 7-0 sweep of Wyoming on Saturday afternoon. The RedHawks won two of three doubles matches before going on to sweep the slate of six singles bouts.

In doubles competition, sophomore Ana Rajkovic and junior Christine Guerrazzi won at No. 1 doubles, 8-3 while freshman Andreea Badileanu and senior Nimisha Mohan won at No. 2 singles, 8-1. The RedHawks’ lost at No. 3 doubles, 8-3 but had already secured the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2.

Mohan emerged victorious in her No. 1 singles bout, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). Badileanu extended her win streak to six games with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, senior Christiana Raymond won 6-4, 7-5 while Guerrazzi won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, junior Ramona Costea won 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8) and Rajkovic downed her No. 6 singles opponent by a final of 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).

The sweep was the third for the RedHawks this season, the first one coming at home against Wright State on Jan. 31 and the second occuring at home against IUPUI on Feb. 9. With the match win, Miami (7-3, 0-0 MAC) continued its streak of never losing a match coming off a loss. The Red and White are 3-0 in such situations.

Miami returns to the courts on Sunday at noon to face Nebraska.
