OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week sophomore baseball player Jake Romano and senior tennis player Nimisha Mohan are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Feb. 17-23.

Romano was a catalyst atop the lineup as he recorded multiple hits in all three games over the weekend. The sophomore batted a team-best .538 and doubled in all three games, matching last season’s total. He also went a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts and reached base at least three times in each game for a weekly on-base percentage of .625. With him pacing the lineup, the RedHawks averaged 6.7 runs per game last week.

This is the first time this season and second time in his career that Romano has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He previously earned the honor for the week of April 29-May 5, 2013.

Mohan propelled Miami to a 5-2 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles to improve the RedHawks' record to 6-2 on the season. She moved to 2-0 on the season at No. 1 singles and 6-2 in dual matches this year.

This is the first time this season and second time in her career that Mohan has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week. She previously earned the honor for the week of April 8-14, 2013.
