OXFORD, Ohio - The sixth annual Class at the Court game is upon us as Miami hosts Ball State on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Bill Douglas has the call, and it can be seen live on Miami All-Access for those who have a subscription.

THIS COULD BE THE GAME FOR HANNAH: Senior guard Hannah Robertson scored six points against Central Michigan last Saturday. She now has 995 career points and needs only five more to become the 22nd player in Miami history to score 1,000.

CLASS AT THE COURT: The women’s basketball team once again welcomes over 1,500 students from Bogan, Kramer and Marshall elementary schools to Millett Hall for a fun game along with educational opportunities. This game is a major part of the Miami/Talawanda partnership that has been established between the University and the local school district. While plenty of schools host elementary events these days, what makes Miami’s different is that it is just a small part of the work the women’s basketball team puts in with the three schools year-round. The team is a frequent visitor to the classrooms, passing along encouraging messages to the students. The RedHawks spent time at each school recently to get them pumped for the game and to help them with their focus on Cultural Competence, which is reflected in the district-wide theme of P.R.I.D.E., which stands for People Respecting Individual Differences Everyday.

ABOUT BALL STATE: Ball State is 10-13 overall and 5-7 in the MAC. The Cardinals have had an up and down year after finishing in second place in the league last season. The Cardinals are coming off an 87-64 loss to Akron on Saturday, and are now 2-4 in their past six games. BSU is led by sophomore guard Nathalie Fontaine. She averages 16.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Another key player is junior guard Brittany Carter. She averages 11.3 points per game.

SERIES WITH BALL STATE: Miami holds a 40-20 record all-time against Ball State. The series is unique in that the RedHawks hold a commanding 24-3 record at Millett Hall, while the Cardinals lead the series, 15-13, in Muncie (Miami leads 3-2 in neutral site games). Last season, on Jan. 10, 2013 in Muncie, Ball State took a closely contested contest, 62-59. The score was tied 10 times, and there were 15 lead changes before the Cardinals held on for the win. Courtney Osborn led the RedHawks with 17 points, while Haley Robertson finished with 15.

UP NEXT FOR THE REDHAWKS: Miami begins its final two-game road trip of the regular season. First up is a trip to Kent State Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest. Tim Bray has the call and it can be heard live on Miami All-Access for those who have a subscription.
