As a part of a two-match trip down to Texas, the Miami University women’s tennis team will take on North Texas Saturday at 1 p.m. before traveling to SMU for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday afternoon. Miami (4-1, 0-0 MAC) will get the opportunity to play outdoors for the first time since fall competition.
Miami enters the weekend coming off a split-decision in match play last weekend. On Saturday morning, the RedHawks were swept on the road, 7-0 by then No. 39 Indiana. Miami bounced back with force on Sunday, sweeping IUPUI, 7-0. In match play thus far, the Red and White have compiled a 20-10 record in singles action and an 8-7 showing on the doubles court.
Freshman Andreea Badileanu leads the squad with a 4-1 record at No. 2 singles while the doubles tandem of junior Ramona Costea and senior Christiana Raymond have a team-leading 4-1 record at No. 3 doubles.
North Texas (1-4, 0-0 C-USA) welcomes the RedHawks to town in search of their second victory of the season. Their only match win came against Southern Illinois when the Mean Green took down the Salukis by a score of 4-0.
SMU (1-4, 0-0 AAC) plays host to the RedHawks on Sunday afternoon and has not won a dual match since their first of the season, when they defeated Stephen F. Austin, 6-1 on Jan. 25. In match play, the Mustangs have combined for a 14-16 record in singles competition and a 4-7 record in doubles action.
Next weekend, Miami heads to Eastern Kentucky for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Feb. 22. After a weekend with no competition, the RedHawks return home when they host Marshall at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 2. That match will take place in Hamilton at the Riverside Athletic Club.
