OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Sales and Licensing Anthony Azama was recognized for his years of service to the Oxford Chamber of Commerce this week.

Azama, who spent the past two years as chairman of the chamber, was honored by his peers at the annual Chamber Awards Ceremony reception on Tuesday evening.

"It's an honor to work with so many talented leaders who are committed to the greater good of enhancing this community, where we all live, work and play," Azama said.

During his time as chairman, Azama helped grow the Oxford Wine Festival, an annual spring festival that brings in tourists. The proceeds from the festival helped raise scholarship money for Talawanda High School seniors who want to learn a trade at a non-traditional institution.

While his term as chairman is up, Azama is still chairman of the board’s Oxford Miami Business Alliance (M.B.A.) subcommittee. The subcommittee consists of Miami employees, area citizens and business owners along with members of the Oxford Visitor’s Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. The group’s focus is on working together to proactively brand the city of Oxford, home of Miami University.
