OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University volleyball head coach Carolyn Condit announced the release of the 2013 schedule on Friday. The RedHawks will play 10 home matches, including the annual Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Invitational.
Season tickets are now available for purchase. An adult ticket for all 10 games is $36, while an 18-and-under youth ticket is $24. Single-match tickets will go on sale in August. Miami students have free admission with their student ID.
The RedHawks will open Condit’s 30th season as the head coach with a trip to Nashville for the Belmont Invitational. The season begins on Friday, Aug. 30 when Miami takes on Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m. (EDT). On Saturday, Aug. 31, the Hawks will take on Memphis at 11 a.m. (EDT) and the host Belmont Bruins at 6 p.m. (EDT).
The annual Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Invitational takes place Sept. 6-7. Joining the RedHawks this season will be Evansville and Northern Kentucky. On Friday, Sept. 6, Miami faces Evansville at 7 p.m. The next night, the Red and White will take on Northern Kentucky for the first time at 7 p.m. The Purple Aces and the Norse will face each other earlier Saturday at 11 a.m.
Miami will take a quick trip to face local rival Xavier on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. It will next head to St. Louis for the Billiken Invitational that weekend. On Friday, Sept. 13, the RedHawks take on host Saint Louis at 8 p.m. (EDT). On Saturday, Sept. 14, Miami faces Bradley at 11 a.m. (EDT) and Youngstown State at 5:30 p.m. (EDT).
The RedHawks’ final early season tournament will be the Wildcat Classic in Evanston, Ill. On Friday, Sept. 20, Miami opens against IUPUI at 11 a.m. (EDT), before taking on host Northwestern at 8 p.m. (EDT). The Red and White conclude the event on Saturday, Sept. 21 with a match against USF at 9 p.m. (EDT).
Mid-American Conference play begins at home when the RedHawks host Bowling Green on Thursday, Sept. 26 and Western Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 28. Miami will play each of the MAC East Division teams twice, once home and once away, and each of the MAC West Division teams once. Other conference matches at Millett Hall this year will feature Akron (Oct. 11), Buffalo (Oct. 12), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 17), Central Michigan (Oct. 18), Kent State (Nov. 8) and Senior Day against Ohio (Nov. 9).
The top eight teams in league play in 2013 will qualify for the MAC Tournament Nov. 21-23. It will once against take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
