OXFORD, Ohio – With Summer Orientation allowing incoming freshmen to visit Miami University’s campus through the next three weeks, MURedHawks.com continues its series to introduce the newest athletic recruits to their future classmates.

Today’s story features four incoming women’s basketball players.

Nicole Anderson: Forward, 6-1, Terre Haute, Ind. –Terre Haute North

Nicole completed four seasons as a varsity starter for Terre Haute North High School. In the Terre Haute Savings Bank Tournament in November, Nicole was named the MVP. As a junior she averaged 15 points and nine rebounds a game while earning honorable mention all-state. She was also named to the Indiana Junior Stars team that received the opportunity to scrimmage against the Indiana All-Star team (which was made up of the state’s best players from the class of 2012).

Kindsay Brandt: Guard, 5-8, Cincinnati, Ohio –Lakota West –Cincinnati State

Kindsay spent the past season at Cincinnati State. While there, she averaged 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in 38 minutes of action per game. Kindsay led the Surge to a 25-7 record and was named Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week in January. Prior to Cincinnati State, she played her first season with Santa Fe College in Florida in 2011. Kindsay was a four-year letterwinner at Lakota West High School. She helped lead the Firebirds to a state championship game in 2008 and a final four appearance in 2009. She will have junior eligibility for the RedHawks during the 2013-14 season.

Rachel Goddard: Guard, 5-6, Wadsworth, Ohio –Wadsworth

Rachel was a three-year letterwinner for Wadsworth High School. She led the Grizzlies to the quarterfinals each of the past two seasons, averaging 13.0 points and 3.1 assists per game as a senior. Rachel scored 842 points as a two-year starter and was named Third-Team All-Division I as a senior in 2013. Rachel was also honored with spots on the All-Suburban League and All-Medina County first teams. In 2013, she was chosen to participate in the Ohio vs. Kentucky All-Star Game and the Stark-Summit All-Star Game.

Jillian Spurlock: Guard, 5-8, Hamilton, Ohio –Hamilton

Jillian finished her fourth year on varsity for Hamilton High School this past winter.   As a junior, she averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.6 steals, and 3.6 assists per game for the Big Blue. Last season she was named First-Team All-GMC, Second-Team Ohio Southwest District, the Journal News Area Player of the Year and All-Ohio honorable mention. Jillian was also part of the Ohio Top 100 Showcase. She became Hamilton’s all-time leading scorer in girls’ basketball with 26 points in Hamilton’s 51-25 winover Wayne in January of this year.
