Ice Hockey

Last week: Miami played a two-game series on the road at CCHA foe Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday. The RedHawks lost to the Wildcats, 2-1, Friday night (FULL STORY), but responded with a comeback tie/shootout-win on Saturday (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks (12-5-5, 8-4-4-4 CCHA) remain on the road when they step out of league play for a two-game series at WCHA foe Wiscosin Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19. Puck drop is set for 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. local time on Friday and will air on the Big Ten Network while Saturday's contest begins at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. local time and will be on Fox Sports Wisconsin+.

Men's Basketball

Last week: Miami opened Mid-American Conference play with a 72-61 loss against Northern Illinois University at home on Wednesday (FULL STORY), but it held off Buffalo, 58-57, on the road Saturday thanks in part to Allen Roberts' team-high 22 points (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks (6-8 overall, 1-1 MAC) host Bowling Green Wednesday, Jan. 16 before traveling to play Eastern Michigan Saturday, Jan. 19. Wednesday's home contest begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's game starts at 2 p.m.

Women's Basketball

Last week: Miami dropped its Mid-American Conference opener on the road to Ball State, 62-59, on Thursday in Muncie, Ind. (FULL STORY), but it came back and beat Western Michigan, 73-47, on Sunday in Kalamazoo, Mich. (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks (9-6 overall, 1-1 MAC) return home Thursday, Jan. 16 to host rival Ohio for the annual "Battle of the Bricks" at 7 p.m. MU then hosts Eastern Michigan Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

Women's Swimming & Diving

Last week: Miami used nine first-place finishes, including double wins by diver Nikki Craft and senior Bekka Westrick of Fairfield, to dispatch host Cincinnati at the Keating Aquatics Center Friday night. The 172-128 RedHawk victory also included a personal-best race by freshman Aubrey Kluth in the 1000 freestyle (FULL STORY). This week: Miami returns to action, swimming against Akron Friday, Jan. 18 and versus Buffalo Sunday, Jan. 20.

Men's Swimming & Diving

Last week: For the second year in a row, Miami defeated the University of Cincinnati, winning a narrow 159-133 decision Friday night at UC's Keating Aquatics Center. Miami's heroes included senior diver Mike Grainger from Cincinnati's Indian Hill High School, Oxford freshman breaststroker Evan Bader, senior distance freestyler Alex Reinhardt and sophomore freestyle sprinter Joe Baumgartner (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks swim at home against Buffalo Sunday, Jan. 20.

Synchronized Skating

Last week: Miami's senior and collegiate synchronized skating teams had a strong finish at the Mid-America Championships Sunday in Fraser, Mich. Miami's senior team posted a first-place finish in the free skate event, while the RedHawk collegiate team posted a score more than 12 points ahead of their nearest competition (FULL STORY). Coming up: All three teams are back in action in two weeks as the collegiate and Junior teams compete at the Midwestern Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. Jan. 25-26, while the senior team heads to Gothenburg, Sweden for the Leon Lurje Trophy Jan. 26-27.

Track & Field

This week: The Miami women's team resumes their indoor season Friday, Jan. 18 at the Gladstein Invitational, hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The men's team begins its indoor season Friday, Feb. 15 at the Buckeye Tune-Up in Columbus.


This week: The Miami women's tennis team continues its spring season Saturday, Jan. 19 with a match against Indiana in Cincinnati at the Western Hills Tennis Center. Matches begin at 11 a.m.


This week's HawkTawk with will be held Thursday, Jan. 17 at Kroger. The broadcast, which is presented by Kroger, begins at 7 p.m. All fans and students are welcome to attend.
