CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly field hockey awards on Tuesday. Earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week for Miami was junior goalkeeper Sarah Mueller (Berlin, Germany). It is the second time this season and third time in her career that she has won this honor.
Mueller made 12 saves in the two games Miami played, making several key stops while allowing only two goals all weekend. She made five saves in the RedHawks 4-1 win over MAC rival Kent State, only allowing one goal on an accidental own goal play. She kept Miami in the game with Indiana, making seven saves against the Hoosiers. Mueller held an impressive .857 saves percentage over 140 minutes of action.
Mueller was previously named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11.
Miami returns to action on Friday when it hosts Appalachian State at 5 p.m.
