OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University head women's basketball coach Maria Fantanarosa announced Tuesday that the program has hired Becky Adams as its Director of Basketball Operations. Adams comes to the RedHawks with significant administrative experience, including working as an intern for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She spent the past season as a marketing and development intern at Nebraska-Kearney.
Adams served an internship at the WBCA in 2010-11, helping the organization set up its 2011 convention. She arranged the meetings and schedules for all events at the convention, while also organizing the travel for all WBCA staff members and volunteers.
While working for Nebraska-Kearney during the 2011-12 school year, Adams helped arrange prospective student-athlete visits, created a character development curriculum that will help the student-athletes at the school mentor local elementary school students and managed all the social media sites for the Lopers, including Facebook, Twitter and official website updates.
"Becky will be a solid administrative addition to our staff," said Fantanarosa. "In her young career she comes highly recommended by leaders in the collegiate basketball community. She is a hard worker who is willing to contribute to the program's success in any way needed."
Adams is a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She served as a women's basketball team manager for four seasons, becoming head manager her final two seasons.
"I am grateful for this opportunity to be a part of the RedHawk Women's Basketball Family," said Adams. "The energetic welcome I have received from the staff has been amazing and it has gotten me even more excited to get started. I look forward to many successful seasons here at Miami."
